About Dr. Samuel Armitage, MD


Samuel Armitage, MD, is a skilled family medicine specialist who founded Pelican Family Medicine, with two offices in Wilmington, North Carolina, in 2002. With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Armitage offers superior primary care services to people 12 and older.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in health sciences at Illinois Benedictine College in Lisle, Illinois. He also studied electron microscopy and genetic engineering at the University of New Orleans in New Orleans, Louisiana, before completing medical school at the American University of the Caribbean in the British West Indies. 

Dr. Armitage attended clinical studies at Kingston Hospital in the United Kingdom. He completed a residency at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, and a Shenandoah Valley Family Practice residency in Winchester and Front Royal, Virginia. 

Dr. Armitage participates in continuing education to stay current with the latest advances in family medicine. He authored medical orientation protocols during his residency and completed numerous medical presentations. 

Dr. Armitage is a member of the American Academy of Family Practitioners, the American Medical Association, and the New Hanover and Pender County Medical Society. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family.

Dr. Armitage welcomes new and existing patients to Pelican Family Medicine and enjoys exceeding their expectations for primary care.
